Community Coffee Company Expands Its Presence in Tallahassee
June 03, 2010-
Addition of Direct Grocery Store Distribution Means the “Genuine Flavor of New Orleans” Is Easier to Find Locally
BATON ROUGE, La. – Community Coffee Company’s expansion of its Tallahassee location means that the coffee that offers the “Genuine Flavor of New Orleans” now has a greater presence on local grocery aisles.
The 91-year-old company, which has had a Tallahassee location since 2004, recently added direct store distribution to its local operations and partnered with grocery stores to make Community® coffee and tea products more available locally. In the past, Community contracted with other companies to locally distribute its products to grocery stores. Now, with the distribution of its own products, additional staff members were hired in the Tallahassee area to deliver Community® products and provide more individualized service to grocers.
Community’s Tallahassee expansion is part of its growth in the Southeastern United States. The company is also increasing its reach into the Birmingham and Atlanta markets and opened a Memphis location last year. Community® coffee products are sold in grocery stores throughout the Gulf South region, from Texas to North Carolina. They are also available through restaurant chains, such as Baumhower’s and Another Broken Egg, and nationwide through Ruby Tuesday and other restaurants. They are available worldwide through CommunityCoffee.com.
“Southerners appreciate great cuisine and great coffee. For us, having coffee is more than drinking a beverage. It’s one of the most vivid expressions of our culture, made even better with a great cup of coffee,” said Community Coffee Company fourth-generation president Matt Saurage.
Community has been airing TV commercials in the Tallahassee market this spring. The ads, shot at the legendary Brennan’s Restaurant in New Orleans, are designed to acquaint residents with the brand.
On Sunday, Community ran newspaper ads offering consumers free packages of coffee. Locals have also had a chance to sample the coffee in stores throughout the greater Tallahassee area.
Community Coffee Company is bringing more than coffee to the regions it serves. One of its programs, Community Cash for Schools®, helps schools earn dollars based on the number of Community® Brand UPC labels they collect. Over the past 21 years, participating schools have earned about $4.5 million for instructional resources, professional development for teachers, summer programs, field trips, playground equipment, facilities improvements and other needs.
