Birmingham Location is the Latest in Community’s Expansion into the Southeast
BATON ROUGE, La. – Community Coffee Company’s opening of a Birmingham sales office and distribution center is the latest development in the 91-year-old company’s expansion into the Southeast.
The family-owned and -operated coffee importer, roaster and distributor is celebrated around the world for its unique, smooth taste, which has been the choice of Louisiana residents and the best New Orleans restaurants for generations.
The opening of a distribution center in Birmingham will mean a greater Community® coffee and tea presence in area grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants and offices. The company is also increasing its reach into the Tallahassee and Atlanta markets and opened a Memphis location last year. Community® coffee products are sold in grocery stores throughout the South, from Texas to North Carolina. They are also available through restaurant chains, such as Baumhower’s and Another Broken Egg, and nationwide through Ruby Tuesday and other restaurants. They are available worldwide through CommunityCoffee.com.
“Southerners appreciate great cuisine and great coffee. For us, having coffee is more than drinking a beverage. It’s one of the most vivid expressions of our culture, made even better with a great cup of coffee,” said Community Coffee Company fourth-generation president Matt Saurage.
Community has been running TV commercials in the Birmingham market this spring. The ads, shot at the legendary Brennan’s Restaurant in New Orleans, are designed to acquaint residents with the brand.
On Sunday, Community ran newspaper ads offering consumers free packages of coffee. Locals have also had a chance to sample the coffee in stores throughout the greater Birmingham area.
Community Coffee Company is bringing more than coffee to the regions it serves. One of its programs, Community Cash for Schools®, helps schools earn dollars based on the number of Community® Brand UPC labels they collect. Over the past 21 years, participating schools have earned about $4.5 million for instructional resources, professional development for teachers, summer programs, field trips, playground equipment, facilities improvements and other needs.
