Mark Howell Joins Community Coffee Company

Baton Rouge, LA - Mark E. Howell is the new General Manager of Community Coffee Company’s Green Coffee and Tea Department. He comes to Community Coffee Company with twenty years of experience in the coffee industry. He has worked as a green coffee trader from Virginia to California, Massachusetts and New York to Honduras. 

Howell was previously responsible for a client list of small and medium roasters on the East Coast and Central US Market where he purchased coffee for both spot position and several major US clients. Howell’s fluency in Spanish has been essential as he managed microlot programs in Guatemala, Kenya, Costa Rica and Honduras for top tier specialty roasters throughout the US. He managed complete operations and purchasing efforts for a regional coffee roaster in New York.

Additionally, previously as president and founder of his own former coffee roasting company in Massachusetts, he generated a customer base with over 100 wholesale customers and experienced between 30% to 50% annual growth over 6 consecutive years.

His strong business management background and accounting experience, as well as customer and client management skills, will serve him well as he leads Community’s daily operations in the green coffee and tea division.  He will work closely with Vice President of Green Coffee and Tea Carl Leonard as they continue to maintain the Company’s strong relationships with its green coffee growers and ensure the quality and taste of Community brand products.

Howell has a bachelor’s degree in business finance from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell where he graduated with honors. Additionally, he is a Licensed Q Grader, a professional cupper accredited by the Coffee Quality Institute.
