FIRST LIGHT POUR-OVER BREWING GUIDE

This brewing method highlights the bright notes that make First Light such a smooth, delicate blend. Grab a bag of ground First Light coffee and try it yourself!

What You’ll Need:

Step 1: Heat Water Heat 2 cups of water in your gooseneck kettle. Make sure the water reaches 195°F–205°F before brewing.

Step 2: Prep Coffee Maker Place a paper coffee filter in your pour-over coffee maker, then place the pour-over on top of a mug. Pour about ½ a cup of hot water into the pour-over to wet the filter and heat up your mug. Discard the water before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Brew Coffee Scoop 4 tablespoons of First Light ground coffee into the filter. Using a circular motion from the edges of the filter to the center, slowly pour water over the coffee grounds until they’re fully wet and begin to bloom. (“Blooming” happens when coffee grounds release carbon-dioxide gas, creating a bubbling effect that enhances the coffee’s flavor.) Wait until the coffee extraction becomes a thin stream, then repeat the circular pour until you run out of water.

Step 4: Enjoy Once brewing is complete, remove the pour-over from your mug, discard the coffee grounds, and enjoy the bright taste of your First Light coffee!
